University Oyo pandemic
One of the indigenous and prestigious University in Nigeria, University of Ibadan has partnered with Oyo state government on Research innovation and Strategic partnership over the contamination of the widespread coronavirus through fumigation of homes and general public places to help reduce the spread.
This exercise was led by Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the deputy vice-chancellor of the institution. She explained that as part of the committee’s efforts on the containment of the disease, it has deployed Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to map and plot the state such that it would be easy to identify social clusters and provide adequate information on containing the disease.
She made a clear disparity between China and the state laying emphasis on the structure and practice of the country and seeing if it conforms with the state and if not, the state should look at it surrounding and ask from experts and apply the right approaches that works in those countries that can also work in the state.
The fumigation exercise is not a popular trend that should be initiated in every state but it is to create awareness to business owners, religious organization and different parastatals against the Uncharted Territory caused by COVID 19.
