Drones Fighting COVID-19 in Nigeria
In Nigeria, Ondo State will be the first country to use drones to counter the spread of pandemic COVID-19, the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, received some young innovators from the Nigerian Flying Labs in the South West, and Beat Drone, yesterday, to show him how they are reusing agricultural drones for public sites. “The young innovators at @Ng FlyingLabs & @beatdrone have shown me how they re-use our agricultural drones to disinfect public sites to help stop the spread of # COVID19. They’ve also provided me with a progress update on the drone assembly plant in Akure they’re building.”
Remotely using drones decreases people’s need for disinfection in polluted areas and their chance of becoming infected. So drone operators will not need full EPI, now scarce on the market.
The drone spray can be fifty times more effective than those which are sprayed depending on the application. A drone will spray 600,000 sqm per day – 50—100 employees equivalent.
The Drones Bard’s Center for the Drone Research has just released the third edition of its Drones Report for public health. The new edition reports that 1,578 public security organizations are now using drones after Bard released its second edition in May 2018, up from 910.
