GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Analyst work at the intersection of data analysis, programming and cartography. 

Their primary duties include analyzing spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets.

Duties of a GIS Analyst

GIS Analysts are responsible for discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping, developing mapping applications and tools and managing a digital library of geographic maps in various file types.

GIS Analysts explains geographic trends and analyzes to clients, requiring excellent written and verbal communication, analyzing spatial data through the use of mapping software.

Producing maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data, including crime statistics and hospital locations.

Discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data. Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources and developing mapping applications and tools.

Qualifications of a GIS Analyst

A GIS Analyst must be in Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering or related field with proficiency in database programming languages such as SQL, R or Python.

Proficiency with front ends design languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and various mapping languages.

Experience with mapping tools such as QGIS, Carto and GPS measuring tools.

He/She must possess Outstanding quantitative skill set, ability to give attention to detail and good problem-solving skills plus an analytical mindset.

Communication is the most efficient to pass information, he/she must have excellent written and verbal communication with Good interpersonal skills.
